Job Description
IBI Group, Toronto West office is searching for a Senior Mechanical Designer to join its growing team.
As a Mechanical Designer you will be participating in the mechanical systems’ building design on the mechancial project team. The incumbent will be working on progressive and large scale transportation, industrial & commercial projects.
Most of the Things You’ll Work On:
- Prepare designs and drawings of HVAC, Fire Protection, Plumbing and Drainage Systems for various building types
- Identify cost-effective solutions to design challenges
- Liaise with clients, sub-consultants and vendors to obtain project details and facilitate design review
- Assist in creating and presenting technical reports regarding status and results of design or study assignments
- Ensure necessary coordination of other disciplines to ensure successful design completion within scheduled timelines
- Construction review activities, including site review of construction work progress
- Meet assigned budget and schedule for project tasks
Qualifications
You'll need to have:
- A College Diploma in mechanical engineering/technology
- Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or eligible for a CET is preferred
- Minimum 10 years mechanical design experience in any of the following building types; Industrial/Commercial/Institutional
- Experience in Engineering Consultancy preferred
- Experience in building systems: HVAC, fire protection, plumbing and drainage
- Proficient use of AutoCAD, MicroStation and 3D Revit
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Knowledge of the provincial and national Building Code, Fire Code, Energy Code, ASHRAE and NFPA standards
