Your Role and Responsibilities
The Z Client Architect (zCA) is a client facing role that acts as the technical leader assigned to named accounts. The Client architect provides full stack z Systems solutions that address IBM’s customer business problems inclusive of hardware, software and services opportunities. The architect provides strategic direction, consults on major industry shifts and challenges, and acts as trusted advisor on all enterprise computing topics. The effective Client architect will require a combination of IT and Business insight, as well as being able to articulate the value of IBM's solutions in business terms. The role has a pre-sales emphasis, and calls for skills in Account Management and Planning, setting Technical Direction and IT Strategy for Mainframe solutions. The Client Architect is involved in arranging and leading workshops, technical briefings, Proof of Concepts and Technology projects as well as Solution Assurance and Technical Design Reviews. Experience across emerging technologies, as well as a good network of contacts across all divisions within IBM form part of the architect toolkit. Experience in consultative selling, effective presentation skills and negotiation techniques are key to success in this role.
The Client Architect will maintain long term engagement to ensure that solutions are successfully deployed and continue to deliver value. Leveraging a sound understanding of IBM's z hardware capabilities and the z software portfolio, the Client architect should be able to develop high-level designs for solutions, using a recognized IBM Method such as Team Solution Design.
