- IBM tax professionals work not only with federal and state income tax compliance, they collaborate closely with our legal, indirect tax, payroll, transfer pricing, corporate development and mergers and acquisitions teams to create, develop and implement business solutions that will continue to transform IBM's tax strategies.
- As an IBM tax professional you will gain exposure and experience to highly complex tax technical issues that may not be possible in another tax environment.
- The State Tax Analyst will:
- Prepare and review multistate and local corporate income/franchise tax filings.
- Assist with multistate and local corporate income/franchise tax audits.
- Prepare & analyze the impact of proposed and enacted legislation. Support multistate and local tax planning by researching tax law, preparing memo’s to explain state implications of filing positions and modeling.
- This position will interact regularly with State & Local Income Tax Team, Federal Income Tax, International Income Tax, Accounting,and Finance Teams.
- Advanced knowledge of multistate and local corporate income/franchise tax filing issues including filing methods, modifications, apportionment and attributes.
- Working knowledge of state tax provision and state FIN48.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting rules, Internal Revenue Code provisions including tax reform items and state tax research tools.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- 3 years experience in Multi-State Corporate Income/Franchise Tax.
- 3 years experience in Big 4 public accounting OR large multinational corporation experience.
- 3 years experience in office application software products (e.g. Microsoft applications).
- 3 years working experience in Tax Preparation Programs (e.g. CorpTax, One Source, etc).
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Master's Degree in Accounting/Finance
- 5 years experience in Multi-State Corporate Income/Franchise Tax.
- 5 years experience in Big 4 public accounting OR large multinational corporation experience.
- 5 years experience in Tax Preparation Programs (e.g. CorpTax).
