Your Role and Responsibilities
The Role

The IBM Public (State/local government, healthcare, education, and life sciences) team is seeking a Technical Sales Specialist with senior domain expertise in data engineering and dataops using the IBM InfoSphere portfolio, including DataStage and/or Master Data Management (MDM). Responsibilities include learning the customer business use cases, uncovering technical requirements, and identifying appropriate technologies that fit the need. The Technical Sales Specialist works alongside the IBM Sales team to demonstrate and explain the benefits of the portfolio and ensures our customers are successful at various touchpoints throughout their technical journey.

In this role, you will:
  • Be the expert in the room.Our customers will turn to you for data engineering and hybrid cloud solutioning advice. Our product managers will consult with you on technology ideas to improve the customer experience. Other field practitioners will ask you to co-create a custom demo showcasing the enterprise power of IBM’s integrated hybrid cloud stack.
  • Be the trusted advisor to your assigned customers and establish yourself as the customer’s go-to contact for data engineering, data governance, and dataops advice.
  • Actively identify, develop, and progress opportunities within the IBM Data & AI offerings while working alongside the Sales team to strategize and ensure a coordinated response.
  • Host discovery, solutioning, and educational workshops with customers to identify hybrid cloud solutions using the IBM Data & AI hybrid cloud offerings.
  • Develop proofs-of-concept demonstrations and reusable industry assets that showcase unique business value, solve customer pain points, and establish IBM as the premier choice for enterprise workloads.
  • Learn new things, learn some more, then share that knowledge with your technical colleagues

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Requirements
  • 3 years of experience with IBM InfoSphere products, such as DataStage or Master Data Management (MDM)
  • Strong command of ETL, data cleansing, data masking, and Master Data Management concepts
  • Prior customer facing experience, either internal or external customers
  • Aptitude and willingness to learn cloud technologies such as IBM Cloud Pak for Data (CP4D) and Red Hat OpenShift (RHOS)
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication and presentation capabilities

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Preferred
  • 7 years of experience with IBM InfoSphere products
  • Experience with performing or supporting software upgrades or platform migrations of IBM InfoSphere products
  • Prior presales or technical selling experience
  • Industry experience in healthcare, life sciences, education, or state/local government
