Summary
The Government Relations Paralegal will work closely with a team of regulatory attorneys, congressional lobbyists and government relations staff who are experts in banking and regulatory affairs. Among other responsibilities, the paralegal will provide assistance on matters regarding regulatory and legislative advocacy, member relations, litigation and docket management, internal project management, document retention, as well as invoice and contract management. The role offers exposure to many different departments within ICBA as well as multiple external stakeholders and the successful candidate must be capable of executing in a fast-paced environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assist ICBA’s government relations team by performing legal research on current and proposed legislation, regulation, rules, guidance and laws.
Track revisions and prepare redlines or mark-ups to draft advocacy letters and comments.
Provide administrative support for internal processes, scheduling, and workflows that impact ICBA’s government relations team.
Monitor regulatory and litigation dockets, deadlines, and deliverables to ensure compliance, and stay abreast of federal and state administrative changes that may impact community banks.
Collect and compile information from internal departments, external parties, community bank members, and legal professionals to gather research, resolve issues, and ensure timely deliverables.
Collaborate with ICBA’s external legal support as necessary.

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate.
Minimum of 2 years of paralegal or legal assistant experience either in a law firm, government office, trade association, or an in-house legal department focusing on corporate and/or financial services work.
Understanding of litigation management, office management, and financial services preferred.
Must be proficient in conducting legal research and analysis using Westlaw and accessing PACER.
This position is hybrid but will be required to come to the DC office approximately 4 times per month and on an as needed basis.
