Position Description:
This is an 11- month, full-time, salaried, exempt position. Our belief that teachers and school leaders are the most significant factor in whether or not a child is successful in school drives our culture and our commitment to our staff. Reporting:
This position reports to the School Principal or Assistant Principal.
Essential Functions:
- Strive for Effective performance in all areas of the ICEF core values, principles and instructional strategies as described in the ICEF Teacher Effectiveness Framework
- Create a powerfully engaging curriculum designed to move students towards meeting proficient performance of the high priority standards identified in ICEF Instructional Guides and California Common Core Standards
- Regularly provide lesson plans to the Principal as requested
- Provide clear information to students and parents regarding class objectives, weekly assignments, homework requirements, grading rubrics and grading scale.
- Employ a wide variety of teaching methods designed to create opportunities for deep understanding and differentiated instruction for all levels of ability within a class, including serving students identified with special needs.
- Use ICEF Common Assessments and Unit Assessment results to determine differentiated instruction needed for low and high performing students
- Collaborate with Special Education Team and ELL Support Staff to ensure that students with additional needs are able to access the curriculum.
- Create and maintain a nurturing, structured and engaging classroom environment
- Establish a coherent plan for classroom discipline and to keep clear and specific documentation of all interventions taken to correct student behavior before referring a student out of class
- Use the Student Information System (SIS) to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of attendance, coursework, and to submit student report cards and school-wide assessment records on time
- Participate actively in all professional development sessions
- Attend and participate in monthly Parent Engagement Meetings, Back-to-School Nights, Parent Conferences, and office hours/tutoring as communicated by administration and track all efforts to create consistent and meaningful communication with parents
- Work required school hours (half an hour before school day begins to 4:00 p.m.), dress professionally, and adhere to professional code of conducts.
