GHG & Energy Managing Consultant - REMOTE

We have two Managing Consultant (Project Manager / Technical Lead) roles available immediately with ample opportunity for growth! Positions can be located anywhere in the United States with hybrid preference given to those local to a Climate LOB ICF office including Arlington, VA (Crystal City), New York City, Honolulu, Salt Lake City, Cambridge, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

In climate change and environmental markets, ICF has advised more than 30 governments and international institutions and served more than 60 companies in the FT Global 500.

  • We develop emissions inventories and carbon footprints; conduct greenhouse gas mitigation policy analyses; assist clients with offset and carbon credit projects;
  • support organizational sustainability; assess the performance of global programs (e.g., climate funds, multilateral development banks), and identify ways they could improve;

and support federal, state, local, international, and private sector clients on analyses related to climate change impacts and vulnerabilities, among other service offerings.

These positions have a strong focus on greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, planning GHG emission reduction opportunities, and assisting federal and commercial / corporate clients with efforts to advance organizational sustainability.

The ideal candidates will have a relevant and strong technical background and expertise in climate planning, GHG inventory / carbon accounting, scopes 1, 2, & 3, decarbonization, GHG data management and data management applications.

Life cycle analysis is a plus. Personnel management and leadership skills, an eye towards work quality, and experience in managing and providing technical leadership on projects and proposals is required.

Current or prior consulting experience, energy sector (electric utilities a plus), and / or supply chain is a plus.

What you’ll be doing

Project Management and Execution : Drive successful execution of projects through day-to-day activities, working closely with a team of project directors;

understand clients’ current and emerging needs and deliver innovative and efficient services. Serve as project manager or task lead.

Develop and execute work plans, direct teams of support staff, and perform quality assurance for work products such that they are ready for client delivery with minimal additional editing.

The mix of projects and clients will depend on success and is expected to evolve over time. In total, approximately 85% of time will be devoted to project work at the onset.

Program Development Growth : Collaborate with project directors and other colleagues to respond to client needs in the areas of organizational energy and GHG management including the adoption and use of various software applications.

As examples, supply chain GHG accounting, sustainability reporting to disclosure organizations (e.g., CDP, TCFD), and regulatory developments to tailor ICF’s service offerings to client needs.

Providing Subject Matter Expertise : Provide subject matter expertise in areas such as building energy, energy conservation and efficiency, electrification, renewable energy, energy management systems, GHG emissions accounting, and GHG emissions reduction measures.

People Management and Development : Responsible for managing 1-2 direct reports, including helping manage their workload, serving as a mentor, and growing their capacity and technical skills.

Opportunity Capture and Proposal Development : Responsible for understanding emerging needs in the practice area, positioning ICF for success through client capture conversations, persuasive proposal writing and technical approach development.

Work across a team of staff to pull together high-quality proposals, reflecting ICF’s experience and technical skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Sustainability, Physical Sciences (e.

5 years of relevant climate and sustainability experience including :

GHG Protocol guidance and expertise with Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG accounting, inventorying, and planning.

Technical expert / leading & managing multiple climate change, sustainability, and / or energy projects.

Building energy management, tracking and reporting building energy performance, and identifying energy conservation measures or similar activities.

Client facing (internal / external stakeholders including executives) with federal and / or private sector / corporate organizations.

Communicating complex energy and climate information to non-scientists to inform decision making processes.

Managing cross-functional teams, staff resources, schedules, and budgets.

Data analysis and visualization applications such as Tableau, GIS and / or Microsoft PowerBI. Proficiency in applications such as MS Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and the Google Suite.

US Citizen or US Permanent Resident / Green card holder

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is :

$69,862.00 - $118,765.00Nationwide Remote Office (US99)
