Role Synopsis:
The company’s intelligence, security & crisis management (ISC) team holds global accountability for the management of security risk to the company’s people and assets. The company’s intelligence & international advisory team (I&IA) forms a critical component of ISC, helping the company to assess threat, measure risk, find opportunity and maximize value through delivery of strategic intelligence. I&IA’s geopolitical intelligence team serves as ISC’s expert resource for intelligence analysis and strategic assessment of geopolitical/security threats.
The company is looking for a contract Operational Intelligence Analyst to support our North America business activities. The analyst will be responsible for the collection, analysis and effective dissemination of security intelligence to support a range of the company’s businesses in North America, with a focus on the company’s owned and operated retail gas stations, the company’s tradition upstream assets, including national critical infrastructure in the US, the company’s low carbon energy facilities, and the company’s office campuses. The analyst will focus on tactical threats to these operating assets, working closely with the company’s North America security team to drive down risk for the company. the company’s America is the company’s largest and fastest growing business and is critical to the company’s zero carbon ambitions.
Key Accountabilities:
- Collection, analysis, and effective dissemination of relevant security information to support the intelligence-led decision-making process.
- Work closely with our security staff to ensure plans and activities are calibrated in response to relevant threat information.
- Maintenance of a regular and ad hoc cycle of thematic and routine reports to monitor current security trends and issues and to support long term security policy and business objectives, particularly in the retail space.
- Management of information databases to ensure long term trends of security activity can be effectively monitored and presented.
- Ensuring relevant threat information is communicated to the client’s security staff in a timely manner.
- Effective management of an information collection network.
Key Challenges:
- Maintenance and continual adjustment of an effective contact network to collect relevant threat information.
- Remaining proactive in the identification of potential security threats to business activity and the representation of this information in written reports and presentations.
- Maintain a strong understanding of security trends with potential impacts to the energy sector in the United States.
Essential Education:
Undergraduate Degree required; Graduate Degree preferred.
Essential Experience and Job Requirements:
- Fluency in English required.
- Experience assessing threats and/or advising on security or intelligence matters; experience in the retail and/or energy industry a plus.
- Comfortable with handling and using data to support analysis. Experience visualizing data sets desired.
- IT proficient.
- Experience representing an organization’s intelligence capabilities to internal and external stakeholders.
- An understanding of the intelligence cycle and its application in a commercial environment.
- Previous experience in an analytical or security environment supporting real-time business or operational activity.
- Excellent written and analytical skills. Writes quickly, concisely, and with impact.
- Briefs effectively and confidently.
- Experience with open-source intelligence tools and techniques.
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of diligence, initiative, and accuracy with limited supervision.
- Ability to draft detailed and accurate reports.
- Ability to quickly forge productive relationships and build networks.
Other Essential Skills and Knowledge:
- Experience with mapping and/or intelligence/information management systems
Desirable Criteria:
Formal certifications in intelligence collection, collection management, intelligence analysis, or other intelligence disciplines from a government agency.

This position requires a highly motivated self-starter who can work with limited supervision. Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, deep curiosity and focused attention to detail are key attributes required for success.
