What are the responsibilities and job description for the Eye Care Medical Professional position at ICON Eyecare?
We are looking for customer service oriented, fun and highly motivated individual who is interested in continuing or starting their career in the ophthalmology medical field. Ophthalmology is the medical subspecialty that deals with surgical eye care and the treatment and diagnosis of eye related medical conditions.

The essential functions include, but not limited to the following:
- Verify patient information, by interviewing patient, record medical history, confirm purpose of visit.
- Prepares patient for exam or, surgery or procedure by performing preliminary tests, reporting patient history.
- Save ophthalmologist’s time by helping with procedures such as laser surgeries and other ophthalmic procedures
- Secures patient information and maintains patience confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records, completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding, keeping patient information confidential.
- Counsel patients by transmitting physician’s orders and question about surgery.
- Schedules surgeries by planning with the surgical center, verifying times with patients, preparing chars, pre-admission, and consent forms.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, and verifying receipts and deliveries
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshoots breakdowns, maintain supplies, perform preventive maintenance and signaling for repairs.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications. Serves and protects the Ophthalmology practice by adhering to professional standards, policies, federal, state, and local requirements.
- Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities and add value to job accomplishments
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Exceptional customer relationship skills
- Transportation to travel to and from local clinic and/or surgical locations
- High School Diploma or GED Highly Desirable
- Proficiency in a second language highly desirable (Spanish preferred)
