Director, Accellacare Network Strategy

This position can be done from the US, UK or Ireland (Remote or Office Based)

Description: This role will be the strategic link between several of the key Accellacare network teams, ensuring that we are remaining competitive. The role will oversee the strategic direction of our feasibility team, as well as manage the day to day operations of the site mobilization team, with the goal of ensuring that our feasibility strategy is aligned with our network growth strategy. This job will include research of competitive intelligence to ensure our network growth strategy and our feasibility strategy are remaining competitive. It is expected that this role with work closely with the Senior Director, Site Network to pivot growth strategy where needed, and work with direct reports to carry out that strategy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Recognize, exemplify and adhere to ICON's values which center around our commitment to People, Clients and Performance.
  • Be final strategic approver of key proposals that go through the feasibility team, working with operations to ensure proposal is competitive and we have the confidence to deliver
  • Be a key contributor to key network metrics through growth strategy and feasibility strategy, including impact on ILT metrics (start-up timelines, number of ICON randomizations, patient per site ratio)
  • Serve as direct line manager to managers and senior managers (approximately 4-7 direct reports)
  • Train and mentor team members in the evidence-based methodology of protocol feasibility strategy development, enrollment modeling, site identification and site selection.
  • Ensure company-wide understanding of the role and contribution of the team.
  • Liaise with the Senior Manager, feasibility and ICON counterparts to ensure effective feasibility strategy is in place to provide a robust, evidence-based site and country distribution.
  • Validating that the proposed geographic distribution of countries and sites is the most beneficial from a cost and overall business perspective. Working with mobilization managers where there may be gaps in strategy
  • Provide management review and oversight of department deliverables.
  • Actively participate in developing relevant metrics to measure the impact of feasibility strategy, including country and site recommendations and enrollment projections.
  • Develop and drive new initiatives that contribute to enhanced corporate performance, or differentiate ICON from competitor organizations. This includes taking on leadership roles in special business development projects in protocol feasibility testing, including leveraging clinical electronic data, such as EMR, for secondary use
  • Work to improve tools that allow for a robust, evidence-based strategy.
  • Develop and build strong relations with all internal and external customers, ensuring clear communication channels are maintained at all times.
  • Assess and develop strategy any process improvements to ensure effective and consistent approach to the proposal development and bid defense processes to remain competitive within the market place.
  • Support training initiatives and other department initiatives.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required (usually <10% of the time).
  • Seeking opportunities for continuous process improvement and specific area expertise shall be demonstrated by embracing and contributing to our culture of process improvement with a focus on streamlining our processes adding value to our business and meeting client needs
  • Perform as an expert resource to project teams for requested feasibility services during change in scope "rescue" situations.
  • Participation in performance appraisals
  • Stay abreast of industry news/changes/trends and ensure that growth strategy remains aligned
  • Ensure mobilization and feasibility teams work together to develop competitive offerings for Accellacare and are feeding into contracts/budgets team, ensuring that entire start-up process is smooth, speedy, and effective
  • Working with team to develop and implement strategies for innovative site network models, including but not limited to high volume brick and mortar sites, virtual sites, and "pop-up" sites

Job Competencies:

  • At least 8-10 years' experience in clinical research is required, preferably at a site or in a site-facing role within a CRO, pharmaceutical company, or related organization
  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree is required at minimum.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong at detail management and process-driven
  • Strong writing ability is required
  • Previous experience with client relationship management is preferred
  • Ability to review data and understand reporting is required
  • Previous people management experience is required
