What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Engineer position at ICONMA, LLC?
- This position is responsible for creating, developing, and commercializing packaging initiatives that support core brand growth, efficiency and innovation for Client Wrigley North America Ice Cream.
- This role provides technical support to troubleshoot key quality or manufacturing issues.
- Leads development of ‘fit for purpose ‘packaging platforms that are designed to maximize desirability/feasibility/viability/sustainability.
- Role supports the strategic cell core growth and innovation projects. Also supporting ideating and realizing strategic cell value leadership goals.
- Develops detailed packaging specifications to ensure quality materials and best value for money on all packaging components used at our facilities, co-packers, and co-manufacturers.
- Initiates, coordinates, and executes line trials at appropriate supply locations to confirm that quality attributes and performance metrics are achieved.
- Manages packaging suppliers to ensure proper execution of projects and recommends/qualifies new ones when appropriate.
- Coordinates the creation of high-quality prototypes to gauge consumer desirability, influence teams and support customer collaboration.
- Collaborates with global Client counterparts to spot opportunities for scale, ensure sharing of best practices and coordination of key activities.
- Active member of the team and supports onboarding of Associate Packaging Engineers and Packaging Engineers to Client culture and business processes.
- Having an Entrepreneurial mindset contributing to strategic cell teams in all facets of business and to lift their portfolios north.
- Leveraging internal and external networks.
- Managing deliverables of multiple projects simultaneously.
- Independently recommending and consulting on packaging platform solutions.
- Effectively communicating projects details and risk in appropriate forum to all levels of organization including vendors and customers.
- Being a passionate, engaged, and active member of team and function.
- Using enterprise thinking to develop best solution for Client and influencing teams to activate.
- Supporting continuously improvement of processes for packaging development and testing.
- Leveraging tech savvy skills to navigate internal processes/systems seamlessly.
Requirements
- S. Packaging Science/Engineering Degree or related technical discipline with a minimum of 2 years of industry experience or Advanced degree in Packaging Science/Engineering or related technical discipline.
- and/or Combination of education and 8 years with increased responsibility and demonstrated success in relevant packaging field.
- Food/CPG and manufacturing experience preferred.
- Solid understanding of key scientific principles associated with packaging.
- Demonstrated record of success performing research.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with teams.
- Effective communication skills.
