JOB SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating corrective and preventive maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability and labor efficiency. Supports the Maintenance team by making sure they have the tools and parts required to complete work orders. This position is responsible for the management of CMMS software to schedule the maintenance team in a way that minimizes equipment downtime and the impact on production.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partners with plant personnel to create a maintenance plan that serves the needs of the plant in a effective and efficient manner.
- Receives, manages, and processes work order requests; ensures problems are resolved quickly.
- Acts as liaison between employees and any outside contractors needed to resolve specialized problems and complete routine tasks.
- Drafts and implements preventive maintenance schedules for buildings and equipment.
- Organizes workflow and appointments by reading and routing verbal and written correspondence, collecting information, and managing assignments.
- Responsible for maintenance plan’s contents, which include actual work, instructions, schedule, workers, spare parts, and contractors.
- Create detailed instructions for the task needed for each asset, write comprehensive procedures for Technicians to understand.
- Use time-based and condition-based metrics to provide insight into asset condition and improve maintenance programs to maximize asset life.
- Develop and maximize predictive maintenance.
- Create an effective maintenance plan by adding workers or contractors including the estimated working hours, spare parts and quantities, and any needed work permits.
- Develop schedules and assists the maintenance technicians on determining job priorities.
- Ensure the CMMS software data files are complete and current.
- Identifies, analyses, and reviews equipment maintenance problems with maintenance and engineering team.
- Assists in educating operations or facilities personnel in maintenance management.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work-related experience.
Knowledge:
- A sound knowledge of maintenance and workflow processes, along with strong technology skills.
- Effective maintenance planning.
Experience:
- 2- 5 years’ experience in food processing/manufacturing planning preferred.
- 2-5 years’ experience in CMMS program, preferably Maximo.
Physical Requirements:
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances on a regular basis.
- Repetitive motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist on a regular basis.
- Reaching: Extending hands and arms in any direction.
- Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
- Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
- Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees occasionally.
- Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
- Lifting: Able to lift up to 100lb occasionally and 50lb regularly
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Includes activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
Working Conditions:
- The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.
- Subject to extreme heat: Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than two hours occasionally.
- There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard above the ambient noise level.
- Subject up to at least 92db’s.
Skills:
- An effective maintenance planner has clear communication skills.
- Must be highly motivated and able to work independently and in groups.
- Focused on making sure their planning and scheduling uphold the facilities reliability.
