Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Physical Security Systems group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Security Technician! Our team works an on-site 4x10 schedule located at our Site and Town facilities with every Friday off. This position requires overtime and call-outs that are dictated by program needs.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Performs complex installations, preventative, and corrective maintenance on electronic security systems. This includes closed circuit television video equipment, balanced magnetic switches, infrared intrusion detection, microwave sensors, card reader access control systems, X-ray machines, explosive detectors, radar systems, multiplexers, communications equipment, and fiber optic systems.
  • Trains, guides, and mentors junior technicians and other technical staff on electronic and electromechanical equipment solving and installation methods.
  • Responsible for regularly reviewing operational logs and databases to identify maintenance issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Often acts as a job supervisor per INL work control process. This responsibility identifies and provides work direction to security systems maintenance personnel over a wide variety of work tasks.
  • Reviews work orders for assigned area using the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Performing Preventative Maintenance work orders (WO), corrective maintenance WO's, and modification installation WO's for intrusion detection, video assessment, access control, and other security equipment related work.
  • Actively participates in INL briefings and post job reviews.
  • Follows company standards for safety, quality and efficiency. Identifies potential hazards or unsafe conditions, which may include exercising "Stop Work Authority."
  • Verifies that consumer grade items being used do not exhibit indications attributed to potential suspect/counterfeit items.
  • Implements Physical Security Systems (PSS) equipment labeling practices in accordance with company and PSS procedures.
  • Ensures that PSS drawings are maintained in an as-built condition by verifying that the actual physical configuration is depicted accurately on drawings.
  • Performs internal PSS self-assessments and other assessments as directed.
  • Ensures that only Materials and Test Equipment (M&TE) with current and reliable calibration is used, when needed; that MT&E used is of the proper type, range, accuracy, and tolerance to accomplish the function of determining conformance to specified requirements; and that M&TE is calibrated and controlled.
  • Completes and maintains training, required reading and qualifications specified for work you're doing.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates degree (AAS) in electronics, instrumentation, electromechanical, or robotics.
  • 2 years of relevant experience required for level TS0400.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
  • Must be within 2 hours commute from the lab
  • Must have a broad knowledge of computer function and application including computer hardware, peripherals, networking, and software.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and towers, travel independently, work extended hours, and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Requirements:

  • 1-2 years relevant experience preferred.

Job Information

  • Salary Grade TS0300: 170 ($55,656 - $89,112) / Salary Grade TS0400: 180 ($62,640 - $100,224)
