As our herd is expanding and production is increasing, Idyll Farms is looking to hire full-time and part-time Farm Hands. The ideal candidate for this position loves the outdoors, enjoys working with animals, and doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty. The Farm Hand position is a physically demanding job that involves outdoor work year-round. Prior experience with livestock is a plus but not required. Training will be provided.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Additionally, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), work near moving mechanical parts, work in high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
The noise level in the work environment can be loud depending on the task.
Key Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Milking goats as scheduled and performing proper dairy sanitation.
- Tending to the animals and barns (feeding, various animal care, cleaning, and similar)
- Grounds & facility maintenance, including equipment operation, orchard maintenance, fence repairs, and sanitation.
- Preparing proper pasture rotation for the herd.
- Receiving, and storing goods in an organized manner.
- Equipment operation (if assigned)
Qualifications:
· 0-4 years farming or livestock experience.
· Detail oriented
· Strong work ethic
· Able to follow written and verbal instruction.
