We are seeking a Research Operations Upstream Leader to manage both area and people responsibilities for the Fermentation Research Facility (FRF), a 24/7 fermentation piloting facility, supporting development of the H&B bioactives R&D portfolio.
Responsibilities
The primary roles of the Research Ops Upstream Leader is to maintain and grow the capabilities of the 14L to 200L fermentation equipment, manage multiple shifts of operators/technicians across fermentation, mechanical and analytical disciplines, communicate effectively with customers and collaborators to schedule, prepare for and execute multiple bioactives projects simultaneously.
Safety isn’t just a goal, it’s a culture. The successful candidate will be experienced conducting safety reviews of new technology, writing SOPs, performing safety audits and maintaining a disciplined and strong safety culture.

Qualifications
- Education: BS/BA degree in Biology, Chemistry, Chemical/Biological Engineering or other physical science discipline
- Experience managing shift-work operations
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across multiple projects.
- Willing and able to be on call to support all shifts remote or in-person if needed
- 5 years of microbiology, cell culture and aseptic technique experience
- 5 years fermentation or commercial brewing experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite applications
- Proven track-record of working with chemicals and hazardous operations
- Mechanically inclined and able to teach team members mechanical aspects of fermentation and facility equipment
