POSITION SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE
The Enterprise Data Governance Manager will manage organization-wide data governance activities and operationalizing the data strategy to achieve the require level of maturity, quality, compliance, and retention objectives for IFG Companies. This role will be responsible for managing the protection of sensitive data and information assets while focusing on the adherence of an enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards, and practices, for all business and functional areas. The Data Governance Manager will work closely with Business and Technical leadership to improve the quality and value of core data assets, respond to regulatory protection requirements as well as support the strategic requirements of the department.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage IFG Companies’ Enterprise Data Governance Program
- Create, implement, and manage our data governance framework, including:
- Establish and maintain IFG Companies master data management, data quality, data dictionary, metadata, and lineage tools
- Adhere and implement data privacy and security controls for data at rest and in motion
- Establish and govern data policies, regulatory compliance (including Financial and Insurance industries), and standards
- Monitor governance metrics
- Define and lead Data Governance sessions (steering, working groups) for regular data management meetings
- Work proactively across the organization to identify data sources, data users, and data processes
- Serve as the primary escalation point for governance, data quality, and security issues
- Assist in research, development, and implementation of projects and other strategic objectives
- Participate in the current software development lifecycle to control and anticipate data related impacts
- Participate, manage, and procure data requests (also known as data calls) from external and internal sources
- Monitor existing and future reporting assets and work closely with our Business Intelligence team to fulfill IFG Companies reporting objectives

- Must have a solid ability to analyze complex system requirements and present findings to stakeholders in a simple and comprehensible manner
- Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills with a strong customer service orientation
- Be highly collaborative, team-oriented, and strong consensus builder, working with all levels of employees, including senior management
- The ability to handle complaints and resolve conflicts while negotiating with others
- Deep understanding of technology solutions (on-premises and cloud) used by the data governance role, including:
- Master and reference data management tools
- Data dictionary, metadata management
- Data quality and lineage
- Data security, retention, and implementation of controls
- Data storage and operations
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while meeting established deadlines.
- Ability to demonstrate planning and organizational skills.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CERTIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree in a information systems technology or related business degree from an accredited institution of study
- A minimum of 7 years of experience working with data governance principles for either a financial or insurance company
- Proven certification, preferably from:
- DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or
- ICCP Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP) or
- edX Enterprise Data Management
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Physical demands are that of an office environment, climate controlled, with minimal physical exertion. This position requires prolonged sitting, the ability to utilize a computer and interactions with others in meetings or via phone.
- Travel as required for business needs.
