PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in the general underwriting process by obtaining necessary information and data from brokers as required.
- Assists in the underwriting, rating, pricing and quoting of business with Underwriter supervision.
- In support of Bind insurance products and appointed Brokers:
- Confirms underwriting terms and conditions and determines appropriate endorsement, terms and conditions for quote/binder/policy with the Underwriter’s approval.
- Completes formal rating and documentation of bound business as is customary for policy issuance.
- Maintains renewal listing and follow up with producers as necessary for renewal information.
- Maintains or exceeds service standards for endorsement and cancellation requests.
- Responds to internal and external client inquiries.
- Reviews loss information.
- Organizes and maintains policy files. Reviews files, records and other documents, as needed.
- Develops strong working relationships with counterparts at agent and broker offices.
- Runs reports as necessary.
- Performs research on issues and analyzes data.
- Continues to increase underwriting knowledge and skills through formal education.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Training to customers of Bind Underwriting and Policy issuance system
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Basic knowledge of the underwriting process
- Basic knowledge of Property, Casualty, and Garage coverages and required forms/endorsements.
- Strong computer skills (Excel|Word|SharePoint) with demonstrated high accuracy output.
- Proficiency in on-Line, Internet based, Underwriting and Policy issuance systems
- Strong problem solving, reasoning, and decision making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while meeting established deadlines.
- Ability to demonstrate planning and organizational skills.
- Proven team player and energetic personality.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CERTIFICATIONS
- College degree or equivalent work experience as an Underwriting Assistant with demonstrated involvement in insurance industry education.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Physical demands are considered to be that of an office environment, climate controlled, with minimal physical exertion. This position requires prolonged sitting, ability to utilize a computer and interactions with others in meetings or via phone.
