Position Overview
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to be responsible for complying with accounting and tax rules. To succeed in this position, you should be up to date with the latest technologies which assist in accounting duties, understands big data systems, and have excellent communication skills. Ultimately, a top-notch Accountant should have strong analytical skills, pay close attention to detail, and can manage time efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements and budget performance
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards (i.e. GAAP, FASB), rules, regulations, and systems of internal control
- Aid in the implementation of new accounting policies, standards, and guidelines
- Provide accurate, timely, and relevant recording, reporting, and analysis of financial information
- Identify areas for improvement and implement improvements to processes
- Assist with and act as the primary point-of-contact for auditor requests
- Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
- Conduct research on tax compliance to keep updated with new regulations
- Assist in IRS, State and Federal audits
- Gather information and explain options for best practice to management
- Prepare quarterly and annual tax compliance reports and documents
- Prepare federal and state income tax
- Ensure that tax returns are filed in accordance with various tax authorities
- Confirm the accuracy of records and deposits as they pertain to tax reporting and preparation
- Maintain written and oral communication between the organization, the IRS, and all relevant outside regulatory agencies and vendors
- Assist in preparing yearly 1099-MISC
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- 2-5 years of accounting/finance experience
- Demonstrate intermediate to advanced skills and knowledge of Excel, as well as other Microsoft Office applications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with accounting software
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively across the organization
- Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation
- Highly detail-oriented
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and local employment tax and income tax laws
- Must possess a strong knowledge of accounting principles
- Computer literacy in accounting software
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work independently and as an effective member of a team
- Experience managing extensive volumes of paperwork and Accounting for a corporation or large organization
