On behalf of our client here in Vancouver, Ignite Technical Resources is looking for a Technical Analyst for a full-time opportunity.
Role: The Citrix VDI Technical Analyst is responsible for the development, configuration, piloting, remediation, and deployment of Citrix virtual technical solutions hosted in Microsoft Azure and on-premises data centers. The solution requires application enablement (production ready) in a Windows 10 single and multi-session virtual desktop environment accessed through Citrix Cloud managed services and on-premises NetScaler.

Role: The Citrix VDI Technical Analyst is responsible for the development, configuration, piloting, remediation, and deployment of Citrix virtual technical solutions hosted in Microsoft Azure and on-premises data centers. The solution requires application enablement (production ready) in a Windows 10 single and multi-session virtual desktop environment accessed through Citrix Cloud managed services and on-premises NetScaler.
Responsibilities:
Work with the Desktop Technical Services, VDI, Application delivery, and IMITS/NTT/Technology Services teams to:
- Assist with the design, implementation, and support of an end-to-end solution comprising technical components in Citrix Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and on-premises data center.
- Provide deep expertise in Citrix App Layering covering >1000 applications delivered through a Citrix Win 10 virtual desktop environment across PHC and VCH.
- Provide deep expertise in Windows OS Image preparation and deployment using App Layering, Citrix Provisioning (PVS), and Citrix Machine Creation Services (MCS) for VDI desktops hosted in Microsoft Azure and on-premises datacenter.
- Collaborate with the DMST teams, IMITS technical teams (Enterprise Architecture, Security, etc.), Service Providers (NTT, Technology Services, etc.), and other external resources to ensure holistic end-to-end delivery of integrated virtual solutions to the client:
- Conduct end-to-end testing of proposed solutions - document use cases, test scripts, and testing plans. Lead and evaluate testing activities.
- Document all technical solution architecture according to best practices and requirements.
- Lead the identification, analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical issues arising from implemented solutions; including conducting root cause analysis and identifying alternate technical solutions to meet requirements.
- Support project and technical change management activities.
- Participate as a key member of an agile scrum team running 2 weeks sprints where task accountability is key.
- Work closely with the Microsoft Modern Desktop project team to understand and assess Citrix desktop requirements, Citrix Policy, AD GPOs, security settings, and various application-specific requirements.
- Provide technical expertise in the areas of Citrix Federated Authenticated (FAS) Services, Azure network architecture, Azure Files, and Microsoft FSLogix.
- Produce monitoring with alerting capabilities so all potential issues are proactively monitored and resolved.
- Conduct regular knowledge transfer sessions and sharing of information on the new VDI solution to all teams within the DMST.
- Support the development of post-implementation support models (knowledge base articles, training materials, standard operating procedures, user guides).
- Work closely with the team to support a systematic technology change process within the Citrix and Microsoft architecture: dev > test > prod rollout procedure.
- Other duties as assigned.
Deliverables:
- Ensure the VDI infrastructure, processes, and support documents are ready for ongoing support and future use cases (scalability).
- Technical solution documentation and updates to:
- Requirements.
- Solution diagrams including architecture, technical, and process workflow.
- Ensure Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity procedures are in place with evidence-based testing.
- Production turnover documentation.
- Training materials.
- Standard Operating Procedures.
- User reports (statistics, trends, capacity).
- Testing documentation:
- Test plans.
- Use cases.
- Defect Management.
- Knowledge base articles covering root cause fixes.
Requirements:
We are looking for a resource with a strong Citrix Infrastructure and Microsoft technologies background in both a traditional on-premises data center setup and Citrix Cloud with Microsoft Azure integration.

- A degree/diploma in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience with Citrix VDI (NetScaler, StoreFront, Controllers, VDA, etc.), Thin Client setup, Windows 10 and Windows 11, Microsoft Azure, and Citrix Cloud.
- Strong Microsoft 365 knowledge (mainly licensing and the Office 365 suite).
- Exceptional technical documentation and presentation skills.
- Exceptional ability to translate and express technical problems, outcomes, and benefits using layperson terms.
- Exceptional hands-on experience using Citrix App Layering including the sequencing and deployment of applications (core apps and elastic apps).
- Exceptional hands-on experience of Group Policy and Active Directory (AD) including AD design on an enterprise level.
- Exceptional experience preparing Citrix desktop images deployed through Citrix PVS and MCS.
- Experience integrated desktop management: FSLogix, Group Policy settings, Azure AD integration including hybrid join and Intune registration.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; able to effectively facilitate discussions with a diverse group of stakeholders, users, etc.
- Ability to work independently and within a team, while influencing and supporting.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
- Organizational and time management skills.
