Job Description: This position is responsible for dishwashing and other general housekeeping tasks to maintain the Culinary Department in a sanitary, safe, and attractive condition and to meet hospital, Health Department and Joint Commission standards. This position is responsible for cleanliness of dining tables, kitchen equipment and patient trays. Gathers patient trays from hospital floors. Cleans and disinfects assigned areas including dining areas using department cleaning procedures. Uses cleaning chemicals properly according to Joint Commission and OSHA standards. Understands procedures and properly disposes of infectious waste and trash. Handles and cleans up emergency spills per department guidelines as well as to Joint Commission and OSHA standards. Operates and maintains assigned equipment (e.g. commercial dishwasher) according to established procedures. Reports problems with equipment and facility in an appropriate and timely manner. Other duties as assigned Minimum Requirements Demonstrates communication skills to include reading color coded labels and chemicals as well as following written and verbal directions. Availability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications Professional housekeeping experience Physical Requirements: Physical Requirements Operate housekeeping equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands. See and read labels, monitors, and documents. Carry, push/pull, and walk while transporting supplies, and service equipment. Climb, squat, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs to clean equipment and reach and retrieve supplies. Remain standing for long periods of time to perform work. Tolerate hot and cold extremes in temperature.
