Job Description: The position of Senior Medical Director will support enterprise wide clinical trials programs focused on supporting the strategic design, execution, and interpretation of key clinical studies supporting high-priority enterprise initiatives. This is high-visibility position that will interact both with cross-functional teams within Intermountain and with external stakeholders. Scope This position has an enterprise role/oversight and reports directly to the Vice President of Research. Essential Job Duties Provide strategic leadership for study teams that integrate the individual’s knowledge in the disease area, knowledge from the medical community around the world and the commercial, research, regulatory, and medical research goals in the disease area. Develop approaches and protocols to demonstrate efficacy using both clinical and biomarker endpoints. Develop the necessary strategies to advance Intermountain’s reputation relating to major studies, including early phase study teams in conjunction with operations leads and clinical program leads; provide medical oversight and direction; focus on study design and execution, ongoing medical data review to ensure data integrity; and review and interpretation of data Engage external experts to accumulate, review, analyze and communicate scientific and medical knowledge necessary to support clinical development Ensure studies and initiatives are consistent with overall program goals and the Research Leadership Team. Integrate the scientific rationale, regulatory requirements, product development plan, and commercial goals to build a solid strategic framework for the Clinical Trials program Minimum Requirements M.D. or D.O. Education must be obtained through an ACGME or AOA accredited institution. Degree will be verified. ABMS or equivalent AOA Board Certification. Active Utah Medical Licensure or in the process of obtaining licensure. Five years of experience leading successful improvement in a clinical trials setting. Demonstrated experience leading industry-sponsored, federally-funded, and investigator-initiated trials. Demonstrated experience as a principal investigator in interventional and therapeutic studies. Experience in managing budgets, overseeing operations, and analyzing outcomes associated with all aspects of clinical investigation Have a record of experience and commitment to continuing professional education. Understand change management with the ability to provide leadership in the adaptation and implementation of new processes and technology that enhance safety. Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience in a role requiring effective conflict resolution skills to work effectively with difficult issues.
