What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at IHOP?

- Performs general accounting duties including maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
- Support month end closing financial statements as outlined by the closing schedule including
- preparation and distribution of consolidated and individual financials to upper management.
- Responsible for daily bank account reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations for assigned locations.
- Analyze information and data by developing spreadsheets and/or other reports as needed to resolve differences or variances.
- Ensure accounts receivable are collected in a timely manner including weekly/as needed.
- Review and manage daily sales and cash entries at the store level with timely investigation of abnormalities.
- Collaborate with other departments including but not limited to HR and Operations to research and resolve discrepancies.
- Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Sorting and filing paperwork according to company records and retention policy.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Report to the accounting manager to improve financial processes
- Comply with federal, state, and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation, and maintaining compliance
Education/Job Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 1-3 years of Accounting experience required
- Restaurant accounting experience a plus.
- R365 accounting experience is also a plus.
- Must be resourceful and demonstrate initiative with an established bias for action in a team environment.
- Excellent use of Microsoft Office Word and
- Excel; very good with spreadsheets
- Attention to detail
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Confidentiality and integrity
