Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for production revenue and gross margin goals for all site related products. Responsible for production planning, assigning manufacturing and inspection resources, scheduling workload, and coordinating all related activities to ensure efficient production and on-time delivery. Promotes continuous improvement programs to increase productivity and reduce cost and establishes high standards for process yields.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related discipline, preferably in physics, optics, materials science, electrical or mechanical engineering. Master’s degree preferred.
- 15 years minimum experience in manufacturing operations involving process development and fabrication of optical products; 7 years minimum diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization and people motivation skill or equivalent experience.
Skills
- Quality Assurance: Responsible for implementing process controls and tracking performance to ensure high process yields and high standards of quality and workmanship.
- Program Management, Business Development, Research and Development, Product Development: Works with the Program Management team to meet customer expectations for quality and on-time delivery. Works with the Business Development team to develop new business and promote revenue growth. Responsible for providing production schedules, cost estimates, supporting technical proposals, and supporting business development activities.
- Operations: The key metrics associated with this position are; Quality, On-time Delivery, and Financial Performance. This includes Warranty Returns, First Pass Yield, Department Scrap, Shop Order Variance, Staff Turnover, Budget Variance, Equipment Uptime, and Profitability.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Strong knowledge/experience in optical fabrication technology.
- Hands-on experience in optical metrology including strong knowledge of interferometer technology and capabilities.
- Knowledge of CNC Manufacturing and CMM metrology technologies.
- Strong leadership skills in process development, production operations, personnel development, and continuous improvement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details required.
- Knowledge of military standards for optics and manufacturing quality standards including ISO9000 and AS9100.
- Must be capable of receiving and maintaining a US security clearance to support classified government programs.
