What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Engineer position at IKOS GROUP?

Context:


To continue IKOS’s growth in the US, we are recruiting Safety Engineers with relevant experience in railway and signaling systems, keen to take part in our missions throughout their country.


Responsibilities:


  • Ensure compliance with railway safety regulations and standards (e.g., FRA, OSHA, and local railway safety codes)
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses for railway operations, infrastructure, and equipment
  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety management systems (SMS) to minimize risks and prevent accidents
  • Collaborate with engineers, operations teams, and regulatory bodies to improve railway safety protocols
  • Maintain accurate safety records and report safety performance metrics to management and authorities
  • Define maintenance and LCC strategy to optimize maintenance costs
  • Review suppliers’ RAMS documentation and handle non compliances with the support of the project team
  • Set up Safety assurance process and ensure it is followed along project lifecycle by all the involved actors
  • Perform typical analysis (Hazard identification, risk assessment, hazard analysis, OSHA, etc.) as foreseen in EN50126 v-cycle model
  • Define, distribute and verify safety requirements for the product and its elements


We'd love you to apply if:



  • You hold a Bachelor and/or Master's degree in Science or Engineering field
  • You ideally have work authorization for the United States
  • You have proven experience in risk management, safety analysis, and accident investigation
  • You know about Safety Critical and Safety Related activities in the Rail Transit System environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on precision and safety
  • You hold good verbal and written communication skills
  • You have at least 1 years of previous experience in the railway industry (a plus)
  • You are a team player and ready to learn
  • You have good communications skills
