REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance & Operations


WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday. 7:30a.m. to 4:30p.m.  


COMPENSATION: $25.17/hour DOE, Regular Full-Time Position


SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the supervision of the Director of Maintenance & Operations (M&O), the Expeditor/Warehouse Specialist performs activities of shipping and receiving, transporting, expediting mail service, general labor, and handling warehouse inventory and supplies.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates and performs activities of issuing, transporting, and storing of warehouse inventory and materials.
  • Monitors warehouse inventory, maintains stock levels, and submits stock orders for inventory control.
  • Maintains accurate shipping and receiving documentation, files, records and logs.
  • Maintains the warehouse in an orderly and safe condition.
  • Picks up and distributes the College mail and freight to and from the post office and distributes inter-office mail and envelopes, both on foot and by driving automobile.
  • Maintains records on postage meter equipment. 
  • Performs basic maintenance on equipment and assigned vehicles.
  • Works closely with the Accounting Office to ensure compliance with procedures.
  • Uses power tools and other equipment to perform basic carpentry, electrical, mechanical, air handling, plumbing and other repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Operates forklift when needed.
  • Complies with College policies, procedures and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances
  • Supports a safe and healthy workplace free from recognized hazards and takes the necessary steps to reduce employee risk of exposure to COVID-19.
  • Distributes COVID-19 PPE supplies college-wide.            
  • Maintains and completes weekly supply checks of the COVID-19 sanitization stations.                  
  • Performs other related duties as required.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Good oral and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to present clean DMV report.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data entry procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational systems, North Slope Borough [NSB] institutions and organizations; Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions.
  • Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College.
  • Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community.
  • Ability to support Iḷisaġvik College’s mission.


EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Required]:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of demonstrated shipping and receiving or warehouse work experience.
  • Valid Alaska Driver’s License.


EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Preferred]:

  • Valid Alaska Commercial Driver's License

The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee may occasionally be required to climb or balance, and may drive a vehicle.

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Health Insurance - Iḷisaġvik College is self-insured and Meritain Health is the health insurance third party administrator. Iḷisaġvik College offers health insurance to our employees with a no cost premium, and $50/month for each additional dependent and a low cost annual deductible of $200 for employee only and $600 for family.

Life Insurance - Iḷisaġvik College offers Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage through Guardian Life to employees at no cost to the employee in the amount of $100,000/per benefit.

Additional supplemental or voluntary retirement, life insurance, disability benefits offered.
