Your Mission:

Identifies, screens, interviews and develops prospective franchise partners for targeted markets. Identifies existing franchise partners who want to grow and assists them in the process. Solicits prospective franchise partners from existing and undeveloped markets. Works with the real estate department to identify open trade areas and solicits new and existing franchisees to build stores in those respective areas. Discusses training, marketing, advertising and financing with prospective franchise partner. Coordinates contractual process with prospective and existing franchisees. Responsible for following the selection criteria for new candidates brought into the company system. Should have a basic knowledge of real estate selection and construction. Leads and coordinates the cross-functional teams towards during the opening of the first stores in each new market in hos area of responsibility.

How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Partner with the leadership team in the development and execution of development strategy.
  • Solicits, identifies, and develops franchise partners for targeted markets.
  • Reviews all applications. Screens applicants as to current company qualifications for new franchise partners including all background checks and all required paperwork for approval as a company franchisee. Respond both written and/or verbally to all applicants in appropriate manner and time frames.
  • Formalizes the phases of the approval process for franchise partners review and facilitates the approval of the candidate throughout the process. These steps include coordination of Initial and ongoing contact/support for franchise partners; final interviews, makes recommendation and follows up verbally and in writing with applicant, and completes proper documentation for submission to leadership for approval. Upon agreement, submittal of approved documents to the legal department.
  • Discusses company history, philosophies, current strategies and direction with prospective franchise partners. Discusses working conditions, business aspects and general qualifications of becoming a company franchise partner.
  • Consults with vice president of development on a regular basis to establish and monitor status of areas available for new potential locations.
  • Provides management report of status of applicants and available franchise areas or stores on a regular basis. Maintains flowchart of potentially qualified applicants and areas available for development.
  • Maintains communication with vice president of development and the legal team on status of franchising regulations, registration and any other legal aspects of franchising that may have changed or evolved.
  • Partner with various departments on available trade areas and communicate in a timely manner with existing franchisees able to build in those areas.
  • Coordinates with director of training, the initial training, logistics support, market site planning and start-up support for new franchise partners.
  • Facilitates transition of approved applicants into company training schedule by interacting with appropriate departments and the franchise partner.
  • Leads and coordinates the cross-functional teams and the franchisees, together with a project manager, through the process of opening the first stores in each new market.
  • Provide leadership to the development team, that includes selection, coaching, establishing goals and performance management. Mentor, guide, and inspire team to ensure growth and quality of work.
  • Assist Development Manager with partnering existing franchisees who intend to build stores to ensure they are following the proper process and opening new locations at the agreed upon schedule.
  • May assist with development budget.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business related field (e.g. operations or marketing).
  • Minimum of seven (7) years' experience in operations or business development.
  • Extensive knowledge about the quick service industry.
  • Working knowledge of legal issues related to franchising.
  • Proven ability to comprehend and analyze various written documents and can provide thorough feedback.
  • Proven experience in project management including documentation, timeline development and execution, and effective and timely communication with cross-functional teams.
  • Executive presence and comfort in all interactions with colleagues, senior-level management and critical external stakeholders.
  • Highly collaborative leadership style. Ability to work cross functionally with individuals and teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound business judgments in a complex, fast paced environment.
  • Ability to build credibility and trust by demonstrating high ethical standards. Extreme discretion, as work involves confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, persuasion, and teamwork skills.
  • Must have intermediate working knowledge of MS Office Suite (such as, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word).

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Operations knowledge or new business development experience.
  • Prefer 10 years of development experience.

Where You'll Work:

  • This job requires ability to travel 50 - 75% of the time, by way of a variety of transportation modes.
  • This job requires ability to travel throughout the region and to the US, as well as ability to secure and maintain necessary credit and passport/visa/government documentation required to do so.
  • Works in a normal office environment where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, noise, dust and the like.
