Job Summary
Dish Washer: Dishwashers are directly responsible for the organization and cleanliness of the entire dish washing area. Responsibilities of the dishwasher include organizing dirty dishes, maintaining the upkeep of the dish machine, and following proper cleaning and sanitation procedures for all dishes, utensils and equipment of the establishment. These employees must be able to distribute equipment neatly and safely to designated areas. Individuals in this position are also responsible for observing and handling all trash and trash cans as well as maintaining the cleanliness of the floors in the kitchen and dining room. This position requires employees to be versatile and assist the other kitchen staff with basic tasks such as bringing requested items to stations and assisting with the overall cleanliness of the kitchen and dining areas.
Dish Washers must be able to:
* Handle hot, wet, and bulky equipment.
* Follow proper sanitation procedures.
* Take initiative in upkeeping the cleanliness of the kitchen and guest areas.
* Monitor the levels of paper towels, hand soap, and hand sanitizer in the restrooms and at all hand washing sinks.
* Be able to communicate efficiently with the kitchen staff and be willing to assist them quickly with minor requests.
* Monitor cleaning supplies and let the kitchen supervisor know when they are running low on janitorial supplies.
* Properly fill, use and put away mops and mop buckets, brooms and dustpans as well as maintain the cleanliness of the items.
* Be able to lift up to 40 pounds without requiring help from another staff member.
Working Conditions
* Part Time year round
* Hours are dependent on occupancy of dorms/food needs for dining hall and events as they pertain to the kitchen.
* Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
