The Correctional Casework Supervisor position would provide a great opportunity for someone that wants to utilize their clinical programming knowledge in a supervisory capacity.  The ability to impact clinical programming in a correctional setting in a positive way and ensuring individuals in custody are provided access to services while also enhancing and assisting in the development of the Correctional Counselor Staff.  This position provides the opportunity to be part of a clinical team that interacts with all correctional facility departments and spans many different responsibilities.  If interested in expanding your supervisory skills in the clinical programming area, this position is for you.  We encourage all qualified individuals to apply.

Essential Function 1

Supervises staff.1. Assigns and reviews work.2. Provides guidance and training to assigned staff.3. Counsels staff regarding work performance.4. Reassigns staff to meet day-to-day operating needs.5. Establishes annual goals and objectives.6. Approves time off.7. Gives oral reprimands and effectively recommends grievance resolutions.8. Prepares and signs performance evaluations.9. Determines and recommends staffing needs.10. Reviews activity reports.

Essential Function 2

Directs counselors by setting forth specific behavioral objectives to be achieved by the counselor. 1. Responsible for all department required objectives being met by the clinical team. 2. Evaluates the progress and involvement of counselor with their caseload.3. Schedules counselor office hours and committee duties.4. Monitors progress of required documentation in Case History and Management Program System (Champs)/Offender 360 (O360)/Master File/Tickler File.5. Monitors schedule and completion of clinical programming.6. Designed the program schedule with guidance from the Clinical Services Supervisor and/or Wardens. 7. Monitors all required reviews are completed, not limited to earned discretionary sentence credit reviews, file review, classification reviews and transfer reviews/requests.

Essential Function 3

Monitors staff engaged in appropriate pre-release planning, pre-release procedures and processing.1. Coordinates paperwork with the Record Office confirming proper processing of individuals in custody.2. Supervises Field Service Representatives to ensure all required paperwork is completed prior to release. 3. Supervises the Re-Entry Counselor to ensure all required programming, enrollment, and paperwork is completed prior to being released or discharged.

Essential Function 4

Coordinates the preparation of psychological and psychiatric referrals.1. Reviews submitted referrals to determine recommendation for counseling services for individuals in custody.2. Reviews cases to assist subordinates and mental health staff in arranging appropriate referrals for individuals in custody who are transferred, discharged, etc.

Essential Function 5

Participates in standing committees such as Adjustment, Assignment, or Program Teams.1. Explains and interprets findings of committee meetings goals and objectives to staff in order to incorporate findings into program objectives.

Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications 1

Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college supplemented by a master’s degree in behavioral or social sciences.

Minimum Qualifications 2

Requires two (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in corrections, behavioral, social sciences, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications 1

Prefers at least three (3) years professional experience providing counseling services to individuals in a custody setting.

Preferred Qualifications 2

Prefers at least three (3) years of professional experience participating as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications 3

Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience documenting progress of individuals in relation to case/treatment plans.

Preferred Qualifications 4

Prefers at least (2) years of professional experience in connecting people to community-based resources in preparation of community reintegration.

Preferred Qualifications 5

Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience utilizing computer programs in relation to counseling/or human development services.

Preferred Qualifications 6

Prefers at least one (1) year of professional experience delivering clinical programming in a group setting.
