Job Description: Piano Teacher
We have an immediate opening for a Part-time (10-25-hours a week) position for an Afternoon Music Instructor at our Greenwood location. In this role, you will teach up to 40 students per week in 1 on 1 private 30 minute lessons. You will be responsible for new student evaluations, student progress, attendance tracking, and leading recitals.
Currently, we have a schedule built on M-Sat and are looking to replace one of our owners. A M-Sat availability is preferred, but we can work with availability. The ideal applicant will have a strong foundation in piano, site reading and theory. Multi-instrumented teachers are a plus.
Illumination Learning Studio is a cultural, performing and fine arts academy with three locations in Ballard and Greenwood. We provide an inclusive learning environment where students engage in stimulating lesson plans, projects, games and structured curriculum. Our teachers are specialized in the arts and early childhood education.
Pay-range: Private Rate: $25-$35 per hour; Group Rate: $35-45 per hour
Hours: M-F, 3-7pm; Saturday 8a-2p
Position Summary and Responsibilities
• Parent Liaison- Greet parents and students to music programming; Daily email correspondence with Music Admin and parents regarding lesson changes.
• Refined Reports and Tracking- Track your student’s progress
• Administrative Support- Send new book information to parents & Nutty Squirrel gift cards. Track your students attendance using Acuity Scheduling
• Music Scheduling- Work with the online scheduler for all students, check emails for new changes and parent relations
• Lessons- Maintain and teach students daily using the core values and curriculum of the music department
• Music Recitals- Maintaining song lists, preparing students, and leading your groups recital
Education and Skills Required
• Prior experiences teaching music
• Have passion for high-quality early childhood education and culture
• Computer skills including experience with Drop Box, Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Email Service
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and use of tools such as email
• Ability to exercise professional judgment in handling student/ parent relations
• Ability to engage and further educate music students
• Ability to contribute in a positive manner
Preferred:
Education: BA or BM
Experience in childcare or education
Be self-motivated, organized and open-minded
Ability to work independently or with supervisors and staff
Ability to communicate in an effective manner with supervisors and students
