JOB TITLE: Accounting Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Merchant Accounting
REPORTS TO: Director of Merchant Accounting
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No
JOB LOCATION: Greater Nashville Area. This is not a remote position.
TRAVEL: 0-10%
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Accounting Specialist position is a team member of the Operations unit within the i3 Verticals Corporate team. This position reports to the Director of Merchant Accounting. The primary responsibilities for this role are to prepare various daily reconciliations, assist in the accounting and clerical functions using accounting practices to apply guidelines, with occasional guidance. Verify accuracy and record business transactions and update reconciliation spreadsheets, reports, and databases.The successful candidate will be highly organized, able to demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills, a keen eye for detail, be proficient in data aggregation and utilization, and be a self-motivated individual.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform daily reconciliation of credit card transactions processed, rejected and settled
- Perform daily reconciliation of credit card rejections and recoveries to ensure all are reprocessed
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepare reporting for internal teams and research questions
- Translate financial data for multiple payment processors into journal entries for Finance
- Create and maintain documentation & trendlines to assist in future problem resolution
- Diagnose and troubleshoot reconciliation issues
- Critical thinking and problem solving. Ability to find multiple paths to a solution
- The individual is expected to have an eye for detail, be self-motivated, use time-management skills
- Other ad hoc tasks as directed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Proficient to Intermediate level Microsoft Excel
- Troubleshooting and resolution implementation skills
- Basic accounting and/or finance background
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):
- Preference given to those with experience in the Payments Processing Industry
- Knowledge in Microsoft Access databases and queries is also desirable
