What are the responsibilities and job description for the Macro News Analyst position at IMC Financial Markets?
IMC is seeking someone with a strong background in US macroeconomic events to work with our team in trading around news outcomes and possible macroeconomic scenarios. As a Macro News Analyst, your input will drive the positions we take and the ways we manage risk around news events.
Your Core Responsibilities:
- Keep up to date with macroeconomic indicators, central bank policies, and geopolitical events that may impact financial markets
- Use data analysis and creative research to come up with a thesis on possible outcomes in future decision points for macroeconomic events, as well as how those outcomes would impact financial markets
- Interpret headlines in real-time and effectively communicate the impact on the underlying scenario
- Understand the possible risks and opportunities in each scenario
- Collaborate cross-functionally with traders to share insights and contribute to decision-making processes
Your Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Macro News Analyst or in a similar role within the financial industry
- Strong understanding of global financial markets, economic indicators, and geopolitical events
- A strong quantitative skillset is required
- Previous experience in options trading is a plus
- Experience forecasting headlining trends and potential market impact in the US Index
- Proven success idea generating with traders for upcoming derivatives trades is a plus
- Experience with programming in MATLAB or Python
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
