The Laboratory Technician will be tasked with assisting the Laboratory Manager with the day to day operation of the Customer Collaboration Center (C3 IMCD), including laboratory equipment, raw materials and facility following GLP’s, Quality, and Regulatory requirements.  Assists with training and demonstrations for Sales and Technical Marketing personnel under the guidance of the Laboratory Manager and in accordance to the standards as laid out by the Regional Technical Manager Coatings & Construction Americas.

This is a temporary position located in our Exton, PA lab.

Essential Functions
Ensures laboratory equipment, raw materials, and facility meets current health and safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Supports preparation for Pennsylvania laboratory trainings and demonstrations for sales and technical marketing personnel.
Performs customer, supplier, and internal lab projects (under guidance of Laboratory Manager).
Conducts coatings (paints, industrial coatings, printing inks and adhesives) specific lab studies according to approved standards and regulations.
Assesses and documents tests results.
Supports Laboratory Manager during operation and execution of coatings trainings in the lab.
Elaborates on guide formulations with local raw materials.
Inspects the measuring and testing equipment (under guidance of Laboratory Manager).
Purchases all needed consumption items after clearance by lab or local BU Manager.
Responsible for quality, order, tidiness, and housekeeping in the laboratory.
Assists with technical workshops and presentations.
Undertakes application and product development studies for internal marketing purposes and customer projects, as required.

Work Environment
This job operates in a laboratory.  This role routinely uses lab scale coatings equipment and instrumentation as well as standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position and the hours of work and days are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., unless otherwise directed by the Technical Manager Coatings NA.

Travel
Travel when needed for training and/or other pre-arranged activity.

Required Education and Experience
Associates Degree in Chemistry or related discipline with relevant laboratory experience.
A minimum of five years of Industrial laboratory experience, including formulation of specialty coatings, color matching, plant processing procedures, quality control test procedures, and technical service.

Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related degree program with relevant laboratory experience.
Experience in a fast-paced environment.
