Join our Process Automation sector on the IMI Graduate Programme in the USA and gain unique engineering experience. It’s an ideal environment if you’re looking for complex challenges – everything you produce here will have to withstand temperature and pressure extremes as well as intensely abrasive or corrosive cyclical operations, whether it’s controls, silencers, chargers, safety valves or isolation and actuation products.

Your time with us can cover Project Engineering, Application Engineering, Research & Development, and Project Management. By the end of the programme, you’ll have additional skills needed to further enhance your journey into the incredible field of Engineering!

What you need:

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar technical discipline. A passion for engineering, as well as the ability to communicate and collaborate with people of all levels and backgrounds is necessary for success in this position. In addition, you will need to be within a commutable distance to the Rancho Santa Margarita, CA site and eligible to work in the United States. We’d also like to see some key qualities in our candidates, including:

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • A passion to drive your own development
  • Open to new and varied experiences
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Knowledge of mechanical design and stress analysis
  • Manufacturing drawing comprehension
  • Basic knowledge of properties of gas and liquids – thermodynamics
  • Basic knowledge in principles of flow and fluid statics and dynamics
  • Excellent written and spoken English

The following qualifications are preferred, but not required:

  • Basic knowledge of properties of engineering materials.
  • Basic knowledge of metal removal processes, heat treating, plating, welding, and coating technology
  • EIT, PE preferred

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the design of severe service control valves to customer specifications and internal design standards
  • Responsible for the selection of appropriate hardware for particular applications
  • Prepare and check detailed drawings and bills of materials and releases valve design packages to manufacturing/assembly
  • Responsible for reviewing customer design specifications and assuring compliance.
  • Maintain valve project document files
  • Prepare or revise valve drawings as required
  • Compile and write buyout specifications
  • Provide technical support and clarifications to customers, vendors, manufacturing, assembly, and test personnel
  • Write test procedures to meet customer contract requirements
  • Work to internal deadlines for Engineering deliverables
