Role Overview:

The Sustaining Engineering Supervisor spearheads technical projects, employing APQP methodology to ensure product excellence through customer alignment. Responsibilities encompass developing team competencies, resource optimization, and regulatory compliance. This role blends technical prowess with effective managerial skills to foster continuous improvement and drive operational success.

Location: Onsite - Farmington, CT

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Sustaining Engineering team to implement process improvements, enhance efficiency, and ensure quality and safety.
  • Oversee equipment validation and investigate production issues, driving effective resolutions.
  • Develop standardized processes and procedures to streamline engineering operations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to optimize process flows, particularly emphasizing Advanced Production Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Own the Change Management process, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and suppliers to understand application needs and present design solutions for review.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of engineering design documentation and bill of materials.
  • Proactively troubleshoot product integrity issues and support Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives.
  • Perform standard design calculations/FEA, Tolerance stack-up, GD&T, and provide support for critical projects.
  • Interface with customers to understand application needs and present design solutions for review.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor engineering staff to cultivate a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Function as the HSE leader for your area(s).  Document and analyze work-related hazards, near misses and incidents. Undertake investigations to establish root causes and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Facilitate communication, co-operation, education, and training to maximize the contribution of all direct reports to the achievement of high standards in HSE.
  • Ensure that all direct reports understand their responsibilities and seek ways to improve their performance related to Health, Safety and Environmental protection.

  • Setting up development plans for employees to ensure their growth.
  • Managing team budget, Capex, training, and travel arrangements efficiently.
  • Effectively managing team resources and competence.
  • Engaging with the team daily to foster teamwork and productivity.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Demonstrating technical expertise with products and processes.
  • Applying working knowledge and experience in PDP/NPD/APQP/DFMEA.
  • Exhibiting strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrating financial acumen and basics of finance and commercial negotiations.
  • Understanding industry standards and maintaining an internal network.
  • Cultivating customer relationships and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Exhibiting an aptitude for quick decision-making.
  • Continuously sharpening communication skills and serving as an HSE role model.
