What are the responsibilities and job description for the Saw Operator position at IMI?
IMI, Inc, a small structural and misc. steel fabrication and installation company, is looking to add a Saw Operator to our fabrication team. Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe operation of automatic horizontal band saw
- Cut steel stock to correct length and measurements
- Safely operate overhead crane and forklift
- Follow blueprints to meet product specifications
- Inspect products; evaluate finished pieces for compliance with quality standards and specifications
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on saw equipment
- Maintain equipment and ensure work area is clean and safe at all times
- Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, state, and local codes, OSHA regulations, and requirements
- Complete all necessary lock-out/tag-out procedures
- Understand and follow oral and written directions; communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Work independently with little direction
- Meet schedules and timelines
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of trade tools, equipment, materials, methods, and techniques used in safe machine operation
- Familiarity with welding tools and procedures
- Familiarity with engineering blueprints and schematics
- Ability to handle physical workload; lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights up to 75lbs
- Ability to work within specified tolerances
- Stainless and/or aluminum skills would be a plus - not required
- Overhead Crane experience would be a plus – not required
- Previous experience in .035 MIG welding, manufacturing, or other related fields preferred
