MIT Program
The MIT (Manufacturing Intern Tech) Program is designed for students exiting high school or currently attending trade school classes at Ivy Tech to transition into productive manufacturing careers. MIT students will have the ability to gain real world experience, training, and skills in a global manufacturing environment. Additionally, the MIT Program provides an opportunity for students to attend school at no or minimum costs with tuition assistance.

HOURS:
1st Shift Positions: Monday - Thursday; 6:30am - 5:00pm*
2nd Shift Positions: Monday - Thursday; 5:00pm - 3:30am*
Weekend Positions: Friday 6:30am - 5:00pm and Saturday 7:00am - 3:00pm*
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assemble seat belts, seats, and/or buckles to specifications.
- Read, comprehend, and execute tasks based on Process Control Instructions, Bill of Material, Product Description Sheets, and Visual work Instructions.
- Verifies specifications by measuring completed component.
- Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Assist other workstations as needed.
- Clean and maintain work area.
- Perform daily audit requirements for safety, quality, 5S, and standard work.
- Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 17 years old.
- Ability to read and comprehend written and oral instructions.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to consistently produce quality work.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Excellent hand/eye coordination.
- Must be able to lift and carry at least 40 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to stand up for at least 10 hours a day.
- Must be flexible to work in various stations.
- Must be able to work overtime if needed.
- Must stay focused in fast-paced work environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT DEMANDS:
- This work is deadline-oriented, requires multitasking, fluctuating work schedule, and flexibility within the workday
- Requires the ability for close vision, distance vision and depth perception
- Requires working and interacting with others, both in person and through phone, electronic, and written correspondence, and the ability to listen effectively, communicate clearly, maintain attention to detail, and perform focused work
- The following motions can be required during the day: Standing for extended periods of time, stepping up & down, balancing, bending (hip & knees), reaching, standing, walking, pulling, pushing, lifting (from floor to waist, waist to chest, chest to head), observing, hearing, grasping, pressing, and other repetitive actions
- Requires continuous motion throughout the day, utilization of tools, equipment, and industrial vehicles, the ability to life 25lbs, and perform physically demanding tasks as deemed necessary
- This work requires the proper attire and use of PPE which can include eyewear, steel toed protection, hard hat, gloves, earbuds, and other PPE as deemed necessary
- May work with and/or around potentially dangerous equipment
- This position requires working with various temperature conditions
MIT Program Details and Benefits:
- MIT Program participants will earn a starting wage of $16.00 per hour with opportunities for growth base upon productivity.
- MIT Program participants are eligible for IMMI benefits such as our on site gym and medical clinic.
- Educational assistance is available for Ivy Tech tuition, fees, and books.
- To be eligible for tuition assistance MIT participants must:
- MIT participants will work at least 30 hours per week
- Be employed continuously for 90 days
- Attend any 2 year program offered by Ivy Tech
- Maintain a B average in classes
- Remain drug free
- Working hours can be flexible based on the MIT's school schedule.
