The Construction Manager (CM) will manage multiple heavy highway/civil projects and project managers ina designated geographic region. The Constrution Manager is in charge of not only day-to-day operations, but also the financial well-being of the various projects under their supervision.

Key Duties

    The Construction Manager is responsible for the hiring project managers, writing contracts, assisting in the development of design construction plans and creating/managing project budgets.

Qualification Requirements

     General. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Key Dutysatisfactorily.      Education and Experience. This position is not an entry level position as it requires extensive experience in a construction management capacity.

(or equivalent work experience) is required.

o    A minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy highway/civil construction as a manager isrequired.

o    With knowledge of DOT work and an emphasis on roads, highways, interstates and bridgesis preferred.

o    Must have extensive knowledge of how a civil construction site works including a general understanding of highway construction projects.

o    Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines is preferred.

o    Must have experience with budgeting, cost control, scheduling, estimating and project operations.

o    Must have the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees.

o    Proficient PC skills including a proficiency in various software used such as Excel, Primavera,and SAP.

Physical Demands. The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by a Construction Manager to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

o    Regularly required to sit and/or stand during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day.

o    Employee is occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.

o    Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 25 pounds and carry up to 15 pounds.

o    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision,peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

o    Continuous mental attention required to complete tasks in an efficient manner.

 

o    Exposure to dust, dirt grease and noise.

o    Work can be performed at heights up to 60 feet, requiring the employee to climb ladders, scaffolds and stair towers, often with narrow steps and passageways.

o    Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground and slopes in varyingweather conditions.

o    Must be able to work a flexible schedule, based on project need(s) and demand(s).

Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Construction Manager encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

o    Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

o    Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, anddust that is typically associated with a construction project.

o    Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.

o    Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel and ready mixed concrete.
