Summary: Plans, designs, and directs civil engineering projects such as roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors, channels, dams, irrigation systems, pipelines, and power plants by performing the following duties.
Duties:
1. Performs engineering tasks under close supervision; encouraged to solve engineering problems using experience, judgment and education but expected to ask for assistant when needed
2. Completes modeling and calculations for projects
3. Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design project.
4. Calculates cost and determines feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data.
5. Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for project.
6. Researches/Reviews code and permitting requirements for project sites as directed.
7. Ability to trouble shoot design and software issues
Requirements
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in engineering from four-year college or university and has passed EIT examination, or is working on both
2. No engineering experience necessary
3. Working knowledge/experience with the computer design software AutoCAD Civil 3D required (experience with MicroStation/GeoPak preferred)
4. This job has no supervisory responsibilities
