Great Southwest Paper Co. Inc, a Division of Imperial Dade is adding a Buyer to the team! The Buyer has the overall responsibility for effectively managing the cost and quality of product, purchasing products, and ensuring availability of product for customer purchase. Primary responsibilities include managing the inventory and determining which items to stock. It also entails interaction with vendors and sales representatives on pricing, order status and stock availability.
Responsibilities
- Maximize company profitability level through effective and efficient procurement and negotiation processes.
- Cultivate and maintain positive professional relationships with vendors.
- Negotiate and procure products based on specification, pricing, quality, and service levels.
- Ensure that products sourced meet or exceed company and industry safety standards.
- Prepare and process purchase orders pursuant to company procedures.
- Act as a total business partner to all departments within the company to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
- Continually evaluate pricing, service, and product specifications to meet company and customer standards.
- Utilize our system to order direct and indirect goods, based on inventory planning policies and requisition recommendations/requests.
- Source needed items at the best price, quality, availability, and reliability from existing and potential new suppliers.
- Track PO confirmations and expedite deliveries to ensure on-time deliveries meet our customers’ needs and minimize backorders.
- Reconcile delivery non-conformance issues and invoice discrepancies.
- Update ERP system information for suppliers, items, lead times, costs, order parameters, and POs.
- Manage existing and establish new supplier relationships with the ultimate goal of providing the best overall value to our company’s internal and external customers.
- Routinely review existing supplier portfolio, for better product options at lower acquisition costs, to uphold our company’s value proposition.
- Work with the Sales, Customer Service, Finance, and Warehouse Departments to resolve sales-planning, product quality, receiving, and vendor return problems.
Qualifications
- 1 to 3 years of related procurement experience including purchasing, inventory control, supply management, supplier relationships, negotiation, and basics of Cost Accounting.
- Industrial Distribution inventory management background, in Jan/San and/or Foodservice, a plus.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite - including Excel, Outlook, Access, Word, and PowerPoint - with the ability to generate and maintain reporting requirements.
- Extremely organized, detailed oriented, and able to manage time to satisfy competing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- A courteous and professional demeanor.
- Ability to productively multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced team environment.
- Self-motivated, with a high degree of initiative, and capable of working autonomously without supervision.
