What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Inspector position at Imperial Group Manufacturing?
Primary Job Function: Performs basic quality techniques to track, analyze, and report on material, processes, gages and products to ensure that they meet the company’s quality standards.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Tests and inspects parts and products at various stages of the production process
- Programs and uses Computer Numeric Machine (CMM) to evaluate 3D features of parts
- Compiles and evaluates data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of parts, products, fixtures and gages. (i.e. – annual Paccar product validation)
- Interprets engineering drawings and schematic diagrams and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality, reliability, and regulatory standards
- Selects products for inspection/test at specified stages in the procurement and production process and inspects/tests parts for conformance to specification, records and evaluates this data
- Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability
- Conducts Calibration of gaging, receiving inspection on incoming supplier components
- Assists with the training of Quality and Manufacturing personnel on CMM, inspection techniques, workmanship standards and statistical process control
- Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications (Preferred):
Specific Experience: Four years experience in metal manufacturing production with two years quality
process experience. Background and experience with GD&T methods and theory. Good grasp of 3D
special concepts and reasoning. Ability to read and interpret SPC data
Formal Education: Graduation from an accredited High School or completion of GED program
Certifications:
Skills: Strong knowledge in mechanical technology and computer software technology. Demonstrated competency in shop math, blueprint reading and use of measuring devices, gauges and programs.
Physical Requirements of the Job:
Vision acuity, corrected or uncorrected, capable of reading documents, blueprints, gauges, equipment settings, calibration instruments, parts labels and written materials and inspecting fixture set up and work products.
Speech and hearing capacity appropriate for frequent person to person and phone based conversations and meetings.
Able to move about fabrication plant with walking and other manufacturing environment hazards.
Frequent reaching with both hands, bending, pushing & pulling loads weighing several hundred pounds, lifting or maneuvering loads of 50 lbs, standing on concrete, tolerance for wearing protective apparel and devices. Working frequently in a hot, noisy environment.
PPE:
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to be worn on production floor at all times: Hearing protection, safety glasses and steel toe work boots or shoes.
