Title: Assistant Estimator (Construction)
Location: Hallandale Beach,Florida
ABOUT US:
Imperial Stone Corp. is a marble, granite, and quartz certified fabricator with a solid position in the stone industry. Our company provides high-level fabrication and installation of counter-tops, flooring, interior walls, and exterior cladding, along with precise workmanship and on-time installation.
At Imperial Stone we are searching for an Assistant Estimator. An Assistant Estimator, or an Assistant Cost Engineer, is responsible for cost calculations to determine how much it will cost a company to complete a project or provide products and services to its clients. An estimator must have excellent analytical and critical-thinking skills, especially with measurement accuracy and evaluating important project metrics
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, as well as performance of other work-related duties as assigned:
- Analyze labor, material, equipment and time requirements for a project
- Getting quotes from suppliers and contractors within a specified time frame
- Assisting with bids for new contracts and supporting the activities of buyers
- Input cost data into company database
- Notice differences between estimated cost and actual cost
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with contractors and vendors
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Two (2) years of experience working in a construction environment analyzing cost data
- Estimators must be self-starters, good forward planners and are often required to make judgements/assessments in relation to budget costs from limited information.
- As an estimator you would work closely with other professionals including construction managers, planners, and design teams, internal project mgr.’s; team working skills are essential.
- Basic understanding of accounting and project management concepts
- Mathematical expertise as the estimator will need to be able to calculate various costs. (A MUST) Bids and estimates are developed using math skills including simple arithmetic, algebra, and geometry
- Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products with a focus on Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of building code (Preferred, not required)
- Ability to read and navigate plans and specifications
- Good interpersonal and written communication skills
EDUCATION:
- Relevant proven field experience OR
- Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or other qualification will be a plus
- Courses at this level include units covering contract tendering, estimating, and buying
- Construction related courses such as construction management, building studies, building engineering, engineering management and building technology and whilst studying the intricacies of economics, cost accounting.
Work Environment: Working in an office environment with regulated temperatures. In addition, to traveling to off site construction project that need special attention, such as attending off site meetings. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

- Ranges to be discussed with qualified candidates, commensurate with experience
