What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Manager position at Impinj?
Team Overview:
We’re looking for someone with a mixture of experience in hardware, test infrastructure, and software skills to manage test systems at Impinj. This position requires you to be full-time on-site at our 2 Seattle locations in South Lake Union and Beacon Hill.
What you will do:
- Design, assemble, troubleshoot, and maintain test fixtures used to qualify and continuously test Impinj products. The fixtures are comprised of things like:
- Impinj readers and gateways
- Impinj endpoint IC’s and endpoint IC emulators
- Network gear (switches, wifi adaptors, etc)
- Host PCs and single-board-computers
- RF attenuators and switches
- test instruments: signal analyzers, debug stream capture devices etc.
- Mentor and support the technical day-to-day tasks and schedule for a project team.
- Collaborate with other diverse teams and disciplines including: software testing, firmware developers and systems engineers to establish testing priorities and requirements to meet goals.
- Track your team’s work in JIRA or an equivalent project tracking system. Hold weekly status/planning meetings.
What you will bring:
- A degree in CS/EE or the equivalent in professional experience.
- 5-8 years of experience acting as a technical lead and directing the day-to-day lab work activities.
- Experience with lightweight mechanical assembly: assembling and populating server racks with equipment and building out test fixtures with the type of equipment listed above.
- Perceptive hardware troubleshooting skills to consistently solve problems.
- Able to identify and analyze software issues.
- Be familiar with developing s/w and automated tests.
- Familiarity with CI systems like Github actions is useful for this role.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Experience with python, bash, unix/linux system administration and networking tools.
- Ability to operate in a lab environment.
Compensation and Benefits:
The typical base pay range for this role across the US is $129,000 - $200,000. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties, requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Both market wage data and the mid-point of the pay range is reviewed and used as the starting point for all new hire offers. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
At Impinj certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
