We are currently searching for NPD Project Manager to join our R&D Team. This role will be performed both on site and remotely as necessary but will be based in the Greater Minneapolis Twin Cities area, at our Chaska, MN headquarters.


JOB SUMMARY


The New Product Development (NPD) Project Manager leads cross-functional development projects for durable Class II medical devices from initial concept to first customer install. This role leads and guides cross-functional product development teams of engineering and non-engineering staff.  The NPD Project Manager plans project stages and timelines for each project following IMRIS’s Product Development Process.  The NPD Project Manager develops and manages project budget and schedule, and works with functional management to gather necessary resources to accomplish project work. 

 

The NPD Project Manager collaborates closely with project technical leads to define and control the technical content of the product under development.

 

This NPD Project Manager sets the agenda for project meetings and lead regular team meetings to plan project activities and share progress among team members. They monitor the progress of the project team members and report project status and issues regularly to senior management.

 

The NPD Project Manager will work on R&D product development projects as well as broader cross-functional business projects.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads their project team to define the project scope, goals and deliverables that support defined business objectives
  • Gathers and coordinates estimates for resources and participants needed to achieve project goals, and works with cross-functional managers to get appropriate staff assigned to the project.
  • Communicates project expectations and status to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • Identifies and manages project dependencies and critical path
  • Identifies and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team
  • Monitors the performance of project team members, providing and documenting performance feedback
  • Drives continuous improvement by monitoring project performance and post-implementation review


SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

  • Reports to the SVP R&D

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • BS in engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years industry experience in medical device product development
  • Project management experience leading cross functional teams from conception to production in complex environments
  • Track record of managing projects of 10 to 20 people using a variety of project management tools such as Microsoft Project or Monday
  • Ability to lead and give direction to colleagues and peers who are not direct reports

  • Exceptional engagement skills with an emphasis on presentation and public speaking
  • Ability to coach and lead technical staff
  • Ability to coach and influence other project managers across the business
  • Ability to communicate effectively cross functionally within R&D and cross-departmentally throughout IMRIS, including the ability to present R&D work, concepts and issues to senior leadership
  • Strong sense of initiative
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a dynamic work environment
  • Self-directed and able to troubleshoot and solve problems independently as well as a team
  • Team oriented style that values synergy of group efforts and invests the effort required to create group solutions
  • Driven by a sense of mission and clearly articulates goals to achieve specific results. Takes the initiative to complete important tasks


Preferred Experience

  • PMI certification
  • Awareness of and ability to apply relevant sections of the Product Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) to durable medical device development
