The Risk Manager is responsible for managing the Claims and Insurance Programs of IMTT in a fast-paced environment. This role works closely with various departments to identify potential risks, analyze their potential impact, and develop strategies to minimize or eliminate them. They also monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk management policies and procedures, making recommendations for improvements when necessary. This position is located in our New Orleans office and is on-site.
Insurance Program
- Coordinating insurance policy reviews and audits, compiling required data for each audit, working with carriers and broker to ensure accurate audit assessments, and ensuring any refunds due are timely processed.
- Previewing and presenting premium schedules to AP leadership and handling more complex inquiries regarding premiums/invoices/payments.
- Partnering with IMTT Executive team and Engineering Department on existing operations and new capital projects to determine insurance needs.
- Reviewing, tracking, and reconciling monthly invoices from various insurers to ensure accuracy and timely payment of claim handling fees and deductible amounts. Addressing any discrepancies directly with the insurer/TPA/broker.
- Review monthly loss runs from various insurers and working with accounting to ensure allocation is correct.
- Setting up claim files in Origami. Communicating with the terminals, TPA and management as required to manage and oversee the claim processing, organizing all claim details and backup as well as working with adjusters to submit claims packages, following through to ensure correct payments/reimbursements to IMTT.
Bonds Program
- Handling new Bond requests from the terminals and ensuring Finance has reviewed the requests. Working with Broker on existing bond renewals and documentation needed. Performing monthly audits of bond inventory for CAO.
Certificates of Insurance
- Managing IMTT Certificates of Insurance.
- Working with Broker to provide outgoing COIs that IMTT is required to provide.
Loss Control Liaison
- Working with terminals and EHSS to evaluate loss control recommendations.
Additional Duties
- Any additional duties or projects as assigned by the Director of Risk Management.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 5 years commercial claims experience including property and/or marine a must.
- Knowledge of sound techniques in all aspects of risk management.
Skills and Abilities

Hours of Work
- Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- This position requires overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
- Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.
