Job Summary
The Terminal Manager is responsible for oversight and management of all facets of a third- party bulk liquid storage terminal (rail, truck, marine, and pipeline, where applicable). The TM is charged with the responsibility of operating the terminal in a cost effective, efficient, and safe manner. The TM will ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory rules and guidelines. This position will help characterize and implement acceptable procedures as well as performance standards for terminal employees based on company policies and industry best practices. The TM will assist with the development of terminal employees providing coaching, team building and other growth exercises.
Responsibilities
- Protect the integrity and segregation of customer product during the receipt, storage, and disbursement processes by confirming proper procedures and guidelines are in place and adhered to by qualified terminal personnel.
- Maintains an up-to-date knowledge and enforcement of regulatory and company operating policies and procedures.
- Financial reporting as necessary to ensure terminal meets goals and objectives.
- Participate in the development of operating, major maintenance, and capital budgets.
- Responsible for executing operations consistent with budgetary expectations.
- Review, approve and justify terminal vendor invoices.
- Accurately measure employee performance and define training opportunities and goals.
- Create employee development plans, identify, and build critical skills and abilities.
- Effect inventory management reconciliation process for daily, monthly, and yearly monitoring periods. Investigate and rectify any excessive variations. Review approve and distribute inventory reports to customers as specified in their contracts.
- Prepare, review, and approve monthly reports for decimation to customers, regulatory officials, or internal department.
- Ensure an acceptable day to day work schedule is in place that meets the workload demands of customer or seasonality of the product being handled.
- Must understand and help enhance the safety of our facilities, employees, customers, and the public.
- Coordinating barge movements, discharge, and loading. Instructing and informing Terminal Supervisors on barge movements.
- Ensure that all Terminal Supervisors are trained and can perform their duties fully, including the use of terminal’s inventory system.
- Conduct daily audits of a sampling of movement paperwork from all three shifts to ensure it is being filled out correctly by Terminal Operators and Terminal Supervisors. Keep documentation on what was audited.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience will be considered in lieu of education.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in petroleum operations.
- Valid Driver’s License
- TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT’s terminal locations.
- FSO or ability to obtain.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to understand and communicate in written and verbal communication in the English language.
- Ability to make decisions in a variable environment.
- Ability to communicate with all other terminal departments.
- Ability to manage and delegate efficiently.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Mechanical Aptitude.
- Mathematical and analytical skills.
- Experience operating a computer, especially with using Microsoft Office software.
Hours of Work
- Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- This position requires overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
- Must have the ability to respond during off-work hours.
- Occasional travel may be necessary.

- Must be able to work in confined spaces, over water and not be afraid of heights. Must be able to operate manual valves.
- Must be able to distinguish colors and able to hear.
- Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds. Must be able to negotiate uneven surfaces, climb ladders including heights over 40 feet, and negotiate uneven surfaces.
- Must be able to wear and use a respirator.
