Sr Principal Mechanical Engineer - Huntsville
Annual Salary: $140,000 - $180,000

In-Depth Engineering Corporation seeks Mechanical Engineers to support our rapidly growing engineering work for the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapons Systems (GWS) Ground Support Systems (GSS) product team.
The candidate must have a current active DoD Secret Security clearance or higher and the ability to travel up to 10% to support business needs.
The work is performed at our customer site in Huntsville, AL. Due to the nature of the role, this is not being offered as a teleworking or hybrid position.
Job Duties:
- Responsible for analyzing complex systems and developing solutions to structural analysis problems.
- Performs structural analysis, functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
- Generates reports and presents to Government counterparts, defense contractors, and other cross-functional organizations.
- Research, plans, designs, and develops mechanical products and systems.
- Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline with 9 years of related experience
- Strong background in mechanical design, analysis, assembly and integration and environmental testing
- Experience with design and development of precision mechanical components and assemblies.
- Ability to conduct trade studies of engineering analysis and present results in written format
- Demonstrated ability to articulate technical concepts to other internal and customer teams.
- Experience in Finite Element/Finite Difference analysis
- Experience with computer aided design using Solidworks or equivalent CAD packages
- Experience with thermal and structural analysis methodologies and software tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Specialty Engineering Experience in Environmental and/or Safety.
- Experience with mechanical overhaul procedure development at the equipment and system level.
- Experience conducting analysis of mechanical components and structures involving launch equipment, determining effectiveness, and creating written recommendations for increasing efficiency.
