Overview
The Director of Strategic Issues will conduct research and analysis, reporting to the Executive Vice President, Policy. This role will support identifying and developing IQT’s assessments of commercial technology issues of geostrategic importance. The Director will draw upon a background in international security, economics, and/or technology, bringing curiosity, initiative, and attention to detail to research and writing responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Working with the EVP of Policy, help identify strategic national security issues related to emerging technology and geopolitical competition, including those related to IQT’s investing or related situational awareness and insights work
- Oversee and conduct background research on a wide range of commercial technologies and international security issues.
- Oversee and conduct in-depth research on key strategic issues and contribute to substantive analysis.
- Structure outreach and dialogue with key thought leaders and stakeholders to enhance research.
- Draft research reports, issue briefs, and articles for publication.
- Present findings and/or hold briefings with policymakers and IQT partners, as appropriate.
- Hire and manage summer Intern.
Qualifications
- MA in public policy, national security, or related field and five years of relevant work experience.
- Outstanding writing, analytic, and communications skills.
- Successful publication record (please include samples with application).
- Demonstrated initiative and project management skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team across a diverse range of expertise and roles.International security expertise; commercial technology interest and exposure.
