The Role
Reporting to Head of Simplifid, this role will be responsible for leading a technology team that takes a customer centric, digital-first approach to innovation with speed to market, scale, exceptional engineering solutions and a fintech mindset to meet unmet market needs for investors on our SimpliFid Platform and our first go-to-market app Plynk. Our two-year old in-market app needs a technical leader that can motivate teams, create exceptional engineering solutions, work quickly, and pivot sharply in this exciting financial services challenger business. This combines the entrepreneurial freedoms and challenges of building a new business with the backing and support of a Fortune 100 company.
In this role you will be the leader for a 60 person agile team focused on building a new financial services mobile app to support the Company’s growth. You will be designing mobile-first and back-end solutions working with the product, service, and growth/ acquisitions teams that encompasses the end-to-end experience of this new app from the concept to App/Play Store and then to scaled adoption and engagement. We will navigate through unchartered waters together as a small, nimble start-up team.
You will need to build/maintain multiple squads with specialized and broad skills that stay ahead of mobile technology, API, AI/LLM, Personalization, money movement, and financial services trends that will help give our product its viral moment on the race to our first million customers. You will also work across the Company to leverage enterprise-wide capabilities to bring the best-in-class financial services products and vendors to our customers.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred
- 15 years of related technical experience and/or digital technology delivery
- A learning and growth mindset with passion for solving customer problems and delivering engaging digital-solutions
- Experience leading software development teams working on front-end applications and APIs
- Expert Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and standard methodologies for the full software development life cycle for iOS/Android development, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Hands on experience with API Design & Development and MicroServices Architecture.
- Strong Cloud skills (AWS, Step Functions, Serverless Architectures)
- Experience deploying digital solutions that impact hundreds of thousands of customers every year
- Experience with Scrum/Agile development, Design Thinking, Lean Start-Up, is a plus
- Client-obsessed and dedicated to understanding and learning about client needs and requirements
- You are comfortable leading, directing, and empowering team members without formal management authority
- Data-driven approach to decision making, both in day-to-day management and in making strategic trade-offs
- A platform approach, building for scale and reuse across multiple experiences
- You are intellectually curious and love learning new skills and capabilities, e.g., Agile principles and technology platforms
- Ability to look for opportunities to innovate and take thoughtful risks in order to get things done better and faster
- An aptitude for working across various technology platforms
- Ability to think and work across various partners across the firm to deliver highly critical initiative keeping in mind re-usability, scalability and yet deliver on time
- You enjoy developing people, understanding what motivates them and ensuring they have a career plan so they feel like they are learning and elevating their skills.
- You enjoy finding both quick solutions to immediate needs and also balancing the long term needs to the tech stack as you work collaboratively to ensure we do what’s right for the customer.

At the Company, our goal is for most people to work flexibly in a way that balances both personal and business needs with time onsite and offsite through what we’re calling “Dynamic Working”.
