What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groomer Apprentice position at Independent Pet Partners?

As a Groomer Apprentice, you help make a difference in the lives of pets by providing customers by developing advanced level growing skills and providing our pet parents with an upscale pet styling experience. We provide a progressive training and mentorship experience the teaches you everything from: bathing, brushing, blow drying, dematting, cutting or trimming hair/fur, gland expression, brushing teeth, nail clipping and grinding, and other specialty services. Through our mentorship program you also will learn best practices from experienced groomers, pet handling, safety, and how to authentically promote service enhancements.
Here is what a day in the life of a Groomer Apprentice would look like:
- We invest in both level 1 and level 2 groomer training through our esteemed partner
- We provide you with a high-quality grooming toolkit valued at $1,200 and all the essential training resources and materials valued at $875
- You will complete 2 levels of groomer training through a partnership we have established through renowned, industry leader
- Complete high-quality grooms (e.g., bathing, brushing, blow drying, dematting, cutting or trimming hair/ fur, gland expression, teeth brushing, nail clipping and grinding, and other specialty services)
- Provide pet parents with an exceptional guest experience
- Always treat all pets and pet parents with kindness and respect
- Speak authentically about products and services offered
- Share product knowledge and suggestions to fit customer needs and promote pet health
- Maintain a clean, safe work area
- Actively engage pet parents to continue to grow the business
We will teach you a lot but what we need you to already have:
- Must be 18 years or older
- Passion for dog grooming and the well-being of pets
- Willingness to be educated about the products and services offered
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, which will require evening and weekend shifts
Physical Demands:
- Position requires person to work both indoors and outdoors
- Position requires person to be both indoors and outdoors (to assist with customer carry out)
- Majority of day is spent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Must be comfortable working with a wide variety of animals including small and large dogs
- Must be able to work around pet hair and dander
