Buyer

Index Sensors is a leading manufacturer of switches, sensors, and controls for the transportation and industrial equipment markets. We are looking for a Buyer who will be responsible for obtaining materials, equipment, and services from established suppliers meeting Index’s expectations for quality, delivery, and price.

Position Summary:
The Buyer will need to be proactive in their everyday duties, contributing to both cost and inventory initiatives of the company. This position requires someone who is a self-starter, highly organized, and can take ownership of the role.

Job Responsibilities:

• Negotiate and place purchase orders of raw components, goods, and services.
• Responsible for smooth and efficient flow of materials to Manufacturing.
• Work with Engineering and Sales to ensure successful new product introduction.
• Ensure Suppliers meet internal ISO quality requirements, following up with corrective actions if needed.
• Responsible for creating, updating, and adhering to ISO procedures for Procurement.
• Maintain supply chain REACH, Conflict Minerals, and RoHS information, responding to customer requests as needed.
• Support profitability targets using cost reduction and negotiation.
• Maintain supplier/cost information within ERP system.
• Responsible for various projects and assignments as required.

Job Requirements:

• 2 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with import/overseas procurement, Mandarin fluency a plus.
• Must be able to prioritize tasks and work independently and efficiently.
• Familiar with Kanban, Lean Manufacturing, and/or Theory of Constraints.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to function across all levels of the organization.
• Very Strong Microsoft Office skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.18 - $31.73 per hour
